MM Gay Erotic Romance Novella Contemporary, Police, Interracial
Word Count: 45,000
Heat Index: Scorching

Two lonely men. One secret affair. Irresistible passion that will push them both to the breaking point, and beyond.

A knife attack left ex-Jamaican Posse member Vincent Williams scarred and also made him re-evaluate his life. He’s out of the gang and also the closet but lonely, yet to meet a man who’s interested in more than a one-and-done, a brief sexual encounter.

Because of his career as a police officer, Sergeant Kyle Pictou is afraid of coming out. Normally he doesn’t get involved with anyone close to home, but something about Vincent compels him to take a chance. It’s just sex, after all. Yet, as desire evolves into friendship and seemingly boundless passion, it’s Kyle who’s left wanting more—though he knows he can’t have it.

MY REVIEW:

Three Strikes
Overall rating **** Stars

I am not one to read m/m romance, but this book was very interesting. I am glad I sogned up for this blog tour. It was really well written and I love the way this author writes. Three strikes had great characters, two strong males. Vincent and Kyle. I love how different they were, and I love the chemistry they had also. The storyline was solid and different from anything I have read. I didn’t want the book to end and I hope Anya writes more. I will definitely be reading more from this fantastic author!

Meet Anya

After living a checkered past, and despite an avowed disinterest in domesticity, multi-published erotic romance author Anya Richards moved from Jamaica to settle in Ontario, Canada, with husband, kids, an adorable pup and a couple of cats that plot world domination, one food bowl at a time. Her slightly darker alter-ego, Anya Delvay, emerges occasionally to write erotica.

Interested in all things historical and hysterical, Anya describes herself as intensely curious, (although the word ‘nosy’ has been bandied about) and a life-long people-watcher. Using what she’s discovered about people, places and various weird and wonderful things, Anya has written contemporary, historical and paranormal/fantasy romance novels, novellas and short stories for multiple publishers. She's also dipping her toes into the self-publishing market, so watch out world :)

The City of Dark Pleasures,

Young journalist O’Mara Tanner ventures into the red light district – The City of Dark Pleasures – to report on a new sexual service that has been the subject of much gossip. But what she finds there only reminds her of all that has been lost in the dark days known as The Expiation.

Tully – handsome, attentive, and mysterious – is unlike any “servant” O’Mara has met in the Pleasures. And his extraordinary service is about to allow her to experience a level of intimacy she has only ever imagined.

Author AJ Downey described The Obsidian Stairway as: “…a dark and thrilling ride that left me breathless.”

                                                  US           UK           CA

A few seconds pass while I listen to the low buzz of the tungsten lights and the higher pitched hum of what I assume is the machinery.

“So your service, it’s some kind of machine, right?”

“More or less. Are you ready to try it?” He lays a hand on top of mine. “You don’t need to be scared.”

“I’m not scared,” I lie. “Should I undress?”

“It’s not necessary. You can if you want to.”

I think about that for a moment. The setting is so strange and unsexy. I can’t imagine how anyone would want to undress. There isn’t even a bed. Are we going to have sex on the floor? And when will this machine appear?

“You have questions?” Tully says.

“I have the feeling you’ll say I have to experience it to fully understand.”

He smiles, leaning forward and reaching behind my chair. “I can explain it. But it’s true that your experience will be better if I don’t. Knowing too much interferes with the effect.” When he sits back, he has several wires in his hand, each terminating in a small electrode. As he speaks in a low soothing voice, he attaches the electrodes – one to each temple, one in the center of my forehead, two somewhere in my hair, and one below each ear. “I want you to know that the safe word will work, if you need it. Do you remember it?” I nod as he attaches a final electrode on the back of my neck, just below my hairline.

“Am I having electroshock therapy?” I’m joking. I hope I’m joking.

Tully smiles as he clips a heart rate monitor onto my index finger. “You won’t feel anything.”

“I won’t feel anything? Doesn’t that defeat the whole point of visiting the Pleasures?”

He laughs then, rises from his stool and turns toward the workbench. “Oh, you’ll feel something. Just not at the point of the electrodes.” He sits on another stool, in front of a chipped cathode screen, which comes to glowing green life as he types onto a clacky keyboard. “Sit back and relax. If you lean forward like that, you’re in danger of falling out of the chair.” He spins on his stool, facing me again. He has a small handheld terminal in his hands, a thick coil of wire connecting it to the equipment on the workbench. “Ready?”

I lean back into the chair, resting my head on the soft cushion. “Ready.”

He turns a knob on the handset. There’s a barely perceptible increase in the background hum as Tully stands. I watch him take one graceful step toward me, two, three and then the world goes black.

Once upon a time there was a young girl with her head full of dreams and her heart full of stories. Her parents, though not a unit, always supported her and told her more stories, encouraging her to become what she wanted to be. The problem was, young Sam didn't know what she wanted to be, so after getting her A-levels she started studying Computer Science and Media. After not even one year she realized it wasn't what her heart wanted, and so she stopped, staying home and trying to find her purpose in life. Through some detours she landed an internship and eventually an apprenticeship in a company that sells cell phones. Not a dreamy career, but hey. Today she's doing an accounting job from nine-to-five, which mainly consists of daydreaming and scribbling notes wherever she can.
All through that time little Sam never once lost the stories in her heart, writing a few little of them here and there, writing for and with her best friend, who always told her to take that last step. Only when a certain twin-couple entered her mind, bothering her with ideas and talking to her nonstop did she start to write down their story - getting as far as thinking she could finish it. Through the help of some author friends, and the encouragement of earlier mentioned best friend, little Sam, now not so little anymore and in her twenty-seventh year,  decided to try her luck as an Indie author. She finished the story of the first twin, Jaden, and realized she couldn't ever stop. So, it is only after five that the real Sam comes out. The one that hungers for love, romance, some blood, a good story, and, at the end of the day, a nice hot cup of Chai Tea Latte.
And if the boys are still talking to her, she'll write happily ever after.

MY REVIEW:
Playing House
Overall Rating **** ½ Stars

This was a quick novella, I really wished it was long to get more of Emma’s and David’s story. I would have like to know how they started their relationship. I thought the storyline was intriguing and interesting! They what a painting, but will they be able to get it? Will they get back together? You will have to read the book. I hope there is a part II to this book because I would love to read more. Great job!
excerpt They had talked about David staying in the house - spare room, of course - until he could find something more permanent but in the end he couldn't bear it. The things you stopped noticing after fifteen years - sometimes, conversely, the very things that had helped you fall in love in the first place - were suddenly amplified. The way she always hummed when she made coffee in the morning, whatever her mood. The scent of her moisturiser. The way she chewed her pencil end, even though she admitted it was a habit that drove her crazy when others did it. You don't know what you've got until it's gone… Or almost gone. Being reminded every day of what he was about to lose would have been too much to bear. Not that he would call the current circumstances particularly bearable. Instead, he had rented a small studio flat a ten minute walk away. He could easily have afforded something bigger and he certainly could have afforded something less sparsely furnished but he didn't want a new home right now. He just wanted somewhere to retreat and lick his wounds. Privately he admitted to himself that the feeling of temporariness helped perpetuate the charade: perhaps it wasn't all quite over. He knew he was kidding himself. He was not the kind of man to give up without a fight and he believed he had fought hard for Emma. She just didn't want him any more. As he reached the building and entered the lobby, he wondered if he should just let her go now. The painting? She could have it. Who needed a reminder of all the things they'd never have again? She had transformed his life over the last fifteen years. A canvas, however stunning, was a poor substitute. In his 'kitchenette' - one counter, a sink and a toaster and kettle - he poured a glass of whisky, took a mouthful and then shook his head and emptied the rest of the glass down the sink. He was drinking too much. It wasn't habitual but it could easily become so. Whisky - even damn good whisky - was even less of a substitute for Emma than a Masters' seascape. He would call her in the morning, he decided. She could have the painting. Forget the auction. Forget the road trip. If you love someone set them free… She wouldn't come back to him, he suddenly knew that. And perhaps it would indeed mean she never had been his, but oddly he was cheered by this thought. Nobody could own someone as free as Emma. She was born to soar. He had always believed they could soar together and the realisation that he had been wrong crushed his heart in a vice of pain. She had given him so much in the last fifteen years, made so many sacrifices. This would be his final opportunity to give Emma something she really wanted: her freedom. After everything he had put her through, it would be the very least he could offer. Teasers
